Your training as an automotive mechatronics technician

The job profile

As an automotive mechatronics engineer, you are an expert for the respective vehicle, depending on your specialization. You are able to analyze electrical, electronic and mechanical systems, identify errors and malfunctions and then fix them. As an automotive mechatronics engineer, you test the repaired or serviced vehicle to ensure that it is working properly (again). Dealing with the customer also plays a role. It is also the job of an automotive mechatronics engineer to advise customers on the maintenance of their vehicle and to formulate recommendations for avoiding future problems.

You can also work with alternative drive systems such as electric, hybrid and hydrogen drives. Automotive mechatronics engineers are competent in the special features of these drive systems and have specific knowledge and skills to repair and maintain these vehicles.

Teaching at the vocational school

As a prospective automotive mechatronics technician, you will learn a variety of theoretical and practical skills in 14 learning areas in order to carry out repairs, maintenance and diagnostics on motor vehicles.
